Sony 20mm f/1.8 G Review

What if you could get GM quality at a price that wouldn’t break the bank and it’s still Sony native? This is it. The thing that makes this lens worth it for me is the weight only coming in for a 20mm f/1.8 lens of 373g. It also is a lightweight but very capable lens that I have used for shoots of all types.

In my time, doing content creation for hobby and also for some freelance work there is one lens I keep coming back to. That is the Sony 20mm f1.8 G lens. It might as well have GM badging on it because this lens is sharp from corner to corner and I’m not a pixel peeper but it does help when you have a piece of glass that makes you forget about all those things. The focal length combined with the quality makes this one of the best at still being wide enough to film a combination of things like vlogs, (some) real estate, magazine, graduation, and weddings. It is truly a workhouse in set up as a lens that can manage anything I throw at it.

Below are some examples of how I used this lens in combination for some of my portrait work and creative shots for the editors note section in a magazine feature. As you can probably tell the distortion with this lens is very minimal when it comes to being a ultra wide lens, you can get some creative shots without the thought of the distortion being noticeable.

Make it stand out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Now let’s talk about image quality in color reproduction as I’ve said already image quality is off the charts and the color that comes from this Sony lens is nothing short of amazing.

Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sound like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest. If you read the words back and don’t hear your own voice in your head, that’s a good sign you still have more work to do.

Be clear, be confident and don’t overthink it. The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now. Later will take care of itself. It always does.
